When reading golf tips about the short game, you will see a few areas are always covered. The first tip would be to always keep your weight on your target side foot. It doesn’t matter if you are pitching or chipping, you want to hit the ball cleanly. Try to keep as much weight as possible on this target foot, around 80 percent is good. This should always be the same, regardless of the distance of the chip shot.

Secondly, you want to lead with your hands. This is a very important golf tip for your short game. By ensuring that you are leading with your hands, you will have no wrist action added into the shot. Most golfers have at least 3 wedges in their golf bags. Make sure to learn how to use them all at different distances. Next, you want to decide how you want the ball to move. If you want it to just release and then roll, use a club with a lower loft. If you want the ball to just land and then stop, use a higher lofted club.Pretty basic really, but check out the video below to help you visualise – I feel vids always help:

Our third golf tip for your short game is to learn how to make a short chip with a putting stroke. If the ball is on the fringe, then just treat the play like a putt. Select the correct iron which will take you to the hole; a 7 iron for a longer putt, or a wedge if it is shorter. Hit the ball with a putting stroke, you are aiming for the hole. By treating this putt shot softly, you will end up making a good chip shot.

Our fourth golf tip for your short game is to view the sand as your friend, and not your enemy. Many golf courses have sand traps, which are placed strategically to provide you with a challenge. They could be a better alternative than other obstacles. When attempting a shot in the sand, remember you must give it a full swing. The ball should be just in front of your stance. This is because you must shoot through the sand to get your ball into the air. When hit correctly, your ball will come out nicely. The ball will accompanied by a layer of sand.

Our last golf tip for your short game is to always accelerate through the ball. This can be tricky when you are close to the pin. You don’t want to over hit and send the ball way across the green. Most people tend to hit the ball nervously, and their swing slows down. Then what happens is the ball rolls a short distance, not really going anywhere. Put your weight on the target side foot, and open your stance a bit. Then you can easily accelerate through the ball. This will take some practice, but you will make a good short shot.

Follow these golf tips and the video above, and your short game will improve dramatically in a very short time period.
